RECOVER ALL

It is the plan of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). But Christ gives life. Any close door has a way of giving Him a better chance to showcase His power. There was this woman-a wife of the prophet in 2nd kings 4, who having been disturbed by her creditor experienced the overflow. Perhaps, she could have been satisfied with her just-enough state but God actually wanted her to experience the more-than-enough state.

David, a warrior also had a similar experience.

1 Sam 30:1-19

1 And it came to pass,

when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day,

that the Amalekites had invaded the south,

and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

2 And had taken the women captives,

that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small,

but carried them away, and went on their way.

3 So David and his men came to the city,

and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons,

and their daughters, were taken captives.

4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept,

until they had no more power to weep.

5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,

and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him,

because the soul of all the people was grieved,

every man for his sons and for his daughters:

but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away:

and David rescued his two wives.

19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great,

neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them:

David recovered all.

KJV

He lost all. Or what do you think was left for him after his two wives (including his men’s) and children had been taken captive? He could have probably assumed that he was strong enough to protect his household -but reverse was the case. And that was the first thing that broke him down at the spot. He wasn’t expecting that. They were so weak, crying …no one to comfort another. But should things continue like that? That the enemy has invaded your camp… stolen or even destroyed should  not make your fate.

David Encouraged himself

No matter what you have lost in the previous year, you can still recover all. Just that…do  you think you can see clearly with tears all over your face? Not really! Even if you do, the vision is very blurred-not analytic. In that organization, you have got to encourage yourself and thereby encourage others no matter the previous loss. The best that sorrow can offer is… ”Oh! Sorry ” or “ee yah”.should you be pitied or envied? Stand now and encourage yourself.

He knew His God

“….in the LORD His God. ”

The end part of the 6th verse says “His God.” He had a personal knowledge of the LORD. He was his God. Are you growing in the knowledge of him?

You do not need anyone to be an intermediary between you and your God. Jesus has filled the gap. You do not need priests to know God’s mindset for your life. Heb 4:16

“let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”

God Spoke

At this point, David sought God and he found Him. He would not even pursue before seeking God. Many a time we pursue before we seem like hear from Him. As per the business, career, relationship has God spoken? You need not run another man’s vision.

David thought he would build the house of God. But God told him to leave it for his son. If he had not listened he might, probably, not be able to complete it.

To listen to the instruction guiding a race before starting is easier than running and hearing from a distance. You do need to hear Him before you start. It makes it easier. Get to know His mind about everything.

Not all that pursue overtake and not all that overtake recover all. Don’t just pursue this year, see yourself recovering all.

You can recover all that the enemy has stolen from your Ministry, Christian life, marriage. Are you on the Lord’s side? You have got to give him your everything for you to recover all. God bless you. Amen
